"Slumdog Millionaire" is a new movie released in America on Sunday February 19. Although this movie was not made in Bollywood, it is a tribute to Bollywood. This movie is nothing like any of the 1,000 annual musicals that are produced in Blollywood, but the bright colors and fairy-tale ending of "Slumdog Millionaire" is what makes people believe that this film is in fact a Bollywood production. Even though this movie was filmed in India also does not mean it is from Bollywood. The story line of the "Slumdog" is an explanation of India. It explains that there is a lot of less fortunate people living in that area of the world, and many say that the title of "Slumdog" is what attracts them to this movie. The movie makes them feel better about themselves. Mainly, in a Bollywood film, there is a lot of group dance numbers and songs that are sung throughout the performance, like a musical, and this technique is taking by many American producers and use in the end of movie to make it more enjoyable. Many American producers are trying to get Bollywood film to cross over seas and someday reach American, although the crowd might be limited to the romantics.

The article I read had to do with hepatitis B. In the article, the death poll of people in India who have hepatitis B has reached 38. The change in the death poll has come from the outburst of the disease that is being spread. In the past two weeks there has been 125 cases of this disease. Hepatitis B is spread through contact with bodily fluids. The death poll has reached this high and doctors are now saying that the drug to cure someone with this disease will be available for free starting Monday. Another reason so many have died is because some doctors have purposely been allowing there patients to suffer. Authorities say that there was an axis amount of face drugs and syringes that were being used on multiple people which is spread the hepatitis B. The highly contagious liver disease can be either a short term illness or it can be a long term chronic illness leading to long term health problem and occasionally death.

An hour or so later, after the tornado is finished, the two walk outside only to find their whole town had been distroyed. After Lanet takes in her suroundings, it hits her that she is not with her children. Once she comes to her realization, Lanet races to Karens house, but when she arrives, all that is left is a pile of dubris. One of the many religions in our society today is Judaism. In the Jewish society, Hanukkah, also known as Festival of Lights, is celebrated. This celebration lasts for eight days and starts on the 25th days of Kislev. The name Hanukkah means "to dedicate". Hanukkah is the celebration of when the Jews regained control of Jerusalem and rededicated the Temple. This eight day holiday has many rituals. One of these rituals is that every night at sundown, one candle will be lit to represent each night of Hanukkah. After the lighting of the candles, a hymn Ma'oz Tzur is sung is the candle light. This song was written in Medieval Germany and contains six stanzas. After Ma'oz Tzur, many other song and prayers may be sung and a gift exchange if necessary. Like many other religions and cultures, Judaism celebrates important events that have happened in the religion. In Christianity, the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated by the celebration of Christmas. In the Muslim community, the holiday of Eid ul-Fitrhe celebrates the end of Ramadan, which is the month-long fast.

In the book The Color Purple by Alice Walker is a novel dealing with many gender related issues. In the novel, Celie, the main character is abused as a child by her father. This behavior at the beginning of the book tells the reader that the status of the women in the novel is much less then that of a man. Along with Celie's father abusing her, after she is married off, her husband beats and abuses her as well. Another abusive relationship in the novel is the marriage of Harpo and Sofia. Harpo is Celie's husband's son who, after fallowing his father, beats his wife. These relationships throughout the novel intensify and soon end because of the lack of respect the men have for the women. In today's society, this kind of abusive relationship would not be tolerated. Women today are treated with a lot more respect and have more dignity.

I found this article on Wikipedia. The title is "Culture of China". The culture of China is a very spiritual. A major part about Chinese culture is based on the fact that a spiritual world exists. Many questions about the spirituality of Chinese culture have been answered by methods of dicination. Also, folklores have helped fill gaps and answer question that have not yet been anwered. In Chinese culture, the most famous holy figures are Guan Yin, Jade Emperor and Buddha. Another part in Chinese culture is story telling. These stories consist of both good and evil, and a majority of the stories have been made into traditional chinese holidays. The Chinese culture and other cultures differs in the sence that cultures do not value the same people, but all cultures believe in someone. Also many cultures have ancient stories and myths that have been passed on from generation to generation.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_China#Values

I found my article at CNN.com. The title of the article is "Research shows Hispanic women get breast cancer treatment late". This article is about a Hispanic women named Maria Rubeo, and her struggle against breast cancer. Rubeo first went to the doctor for the lump that she found on her breast, but when the doctor told her the lump was fine, Rubeo thought nothing of it. She had no health insurance at the time and was struggling with the language barriers that she had to overcome. A year passed and she went back to a different doctor for a check up who later confirmed that the lump on her breast was in fact cancerous. The reason for her not recieveing proper care when she needed it was beacause she didn't have enough time. Rubeo along with other Hispanics have trouble getting help for there health is because of a language barrier, long workdays, and keeping up a houshold and a family. Although many Hispnic women are getting breast cancer, so are many other American citizens and although they are taking care of a family, and working a full day, they still find time for a check up. I believe that the hospitals should have a few Spanish translators or even doctors to help the Hispanic recive the proper health care they need. http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/02/03/minorities.breast.cancer/index.html

I found this article at CNN.com. The title of the article is "Alaska volcano 'more energetic,' scientists say". This article is about an Alaskan volcano named Mount Redoubt that is expected to erupt very soon. In recent days, The Alaska Volcano Observatory said that the "volcanic tremor" has increased in "amplitude.". This increase in activity helps the scientist predict the eruption based on other times that the volcano has erupted. A lot of the time, scientists are able to predicted when a volcano is going to erupt based on previous behaiviors and eruptions. In May of 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted. Scientist use the information from the May eruption to predict when Mount St. Helens is due for another blow. This prediction is made by using the same tecniques as scientists used to find the expected eruption of Mount Redoubt. http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/science/01/30/alaska.volcano/index.html
