Outside Reading #10
The article that I found was from cnn.com. The title is "China: More eggs found containing melamine". This article is about eggs in China that have been found to be contaminated by the chemical melamine. These contaminated eggs were found in a batch from Hubei province in China. Although the melamine content is much lower then the earlier cases, it is still above legal limit and must be disposed of. Along with the eggs form Hubei, health officials say they found more contaminated eggs form Changzhi City Green Biological Development Center, from Shanxi Province. This melamine that is being found in the eggs is a chemical that is used to make fertalizers and plastics. Melamine has been used in foods all over China illegally to suggest that the foods contain a higher protien level. Health officials say that the eggs contain so little melamine cemicals that it would take 20 eggs a day to have any effect on the child. This melamine scare has led to many governments banning food comming from China that could contain any amounts on melamine.
